Introduction

Discord approached our team at Youth Logic seeking help to decipher one of their recent studies on the usage of emojis among young individuals. As a core tenet of Gen Z communication, emojis are known for fostering unity and fun with their quirky and expressive designs. However, Discord was unsure of how to interpret what emoji usage actually represented, or how they could integrate emojis into their overall strategy. As the national Gen Z ambassador for Discord, we were brought on board to provide expert insight and guidance on this important topic.

Working closely with the executive and marketing teams at Discord, we delved deep into the study's findings, reading between the lines and making sense of the data. Through our analysis, we provided clarity and context for Discord’s findings, and concluded that emojis are essential to ensuring good, effective communication, particularly among Gen Z.

Our findings showed that Gen Z places a high emphasis on diversity, and that emojis play a crucial role in connecting people and communities globally, boosting self-confidence, and cultivating friendships. We provided actionable recommendations for how Discord could integrate emojis into their overall strategy, and helped them understand the important role that emojis play in communicating with Gen Z.

Conclusion

As a result of our work, Discord was able to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of emojis in Gen Z communication, and has since integrated emojis into their overall strategy, leading to a better engagement and connection with Gen Z consumers. We were proud to work with Discord and provide valuable insights that helped them better understand this important demographic.
